SailPro Tactical Display - How To Use

SailPro Tactical Display - How To Use

Introduction

SailPro’s Tactical Display is designed to help you become a more competitive sailor by delivering clear, real-time race information when it matters most.

It provides an audible countdown timer, audible boat speed, and Course Over Ground (COG) data—showing the boat’s actual direction of travel based on its movement through the water.

This guide explains how to use each of these functions, along with the additional Tactical Display settings, to support better decisions before and during a race.

Audible Countdown Timer

SailPro’s Audible Countdown Timer allows you to focus on what matters most—positioning your boat relative to the start line and other competitors—without needing to check a watch or ask crew for time updates.

It delivers clear, spoken time-to-start information directly to your ears, helping you stay fully engaged in boat handling, traffic awareness, and tactical decisions during the pre-start phase.

Using the Countdown Timer

  1. START BUTTON - To set the countdown time, swipe up or down on the minute or second digits until the desired start time is shown.
    1. Example: for a five-minute start, swipe the minute digit until the countdown timer displays 05:00.
  2. RESET BUTTON - If the countdown timer needs to be reset—such as after a general recall—tap the Reset button to return the timer to its originally set start time.

    1. Example: if the timer was set to five minutes, pressing Reset will immediately return the countdown to 05:00.

  3. SYNC BUTTON- The Sync button allows you to quickly align SailPro’s Countdown Timer with the race committee’s time. When tapped, Sync advances the countdown to the next lowest full minute.

    1. Example: If the timer is running at 03:50 and you tap Sync, the countdown will jump to 03:00. (This is particularly useful if your timer is slightly out of step with the race committee. By syncing to the next minute, you can quickly bring SailPro’s Countdown Timer back into alignment without stopping or resetting the timer.)

Audible Countdown Behaviour

The Audible Countdown Timer is always active and continuously announces the time remaining based on the user’s selected announcement intervals.

As the countdown approaches Zero, SailPro automatically provides a sequential second-by-second countdown to zero, according to the user’s settings.

How it works:

  • Time remaining is announced at predefined intervals set by the user

  • A final second-by-second countdown is delivered leading up to Zero

  • Announcement timing and countdown behaviour can be adjusted in the Countdown Settings. (See Below)

Audible Boat Speed

  1. The SailPro Tactical Display also shows the current boat speed. Boat speed is calculated using the GPS location of the device, measuring how quickly the device—and therefore the boat—is moving over the water.
  2. To activate audible boat speed, tap the speaker  button located at the bottom-left of the screen. You can customise how and when boat speed is announced by adjusting the Audible Speed settings, which are explained in the settings section below.

Audible Course Over Ground (COG)

Audible Course Over Ground provides spoken updates of the boat’s actual direction of travel based on GPS movement. Rather than announcing where the bow is pointing, SailPro announces the Course Over Ground, which reflects how the boat is truly moving across the water, taking into account factors such as current, tide, and leeway.

To activate the Audible call out of COG information please refer to the settings detail below:
